5th International Youth Sports

Challenge 2012

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.  NAME OF TOURNAMENT
The tournament shall be called 5th International Youth Sports Challenge.


2. MANAGEMENT
The tournament shall be organized and managed by Singapore Sports School.


3. TOURNAMENT PERIOD
30th November (Friday) to 9th December (Sunday) 2012.


4. RULES
All games shall be conducted according to the laws/ rules of netball authorised by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA, 2007).


5. ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS
Students shall be of age Under 15 of years as on 1st January 2012.


6. ENTRIES
All completed entries must be submitted to the Organising Committee concerned on or before the stipulated closing date (5th Oct 2012).


7. COMPETITION FORMAT
7.1.1  If there are 7 teams or less, the preliminary rounds will be a round-robin competition.

7.1.2 If there are 8 teams or more, the competition will be divided into 2 groups and play a round-robin within each group. First and second of each group will advance to the cross-over in the semi-finals. Group A 1st vs Group B 2nd. Group B 1st vs Group A 2nd.

7.1.3  The winner shall be the team with the greatest number of points after all games have been played.

7.1.4  In the event of a tie in points between 2 teams, the team that has beaten the other team shall be declared the winner.

7.1.5 In the event of a tie in between 2 teams, where the game between them has ended in a draw, the winner shall be determined by goal differences, i.e. goals for minus goals against.

7.1.6 In the event of a draw between 2 teams tied in points and where a walkover (default) is involved, positional play will be determined by goal difference but disregarding all games played by that team which conceded the walkover.

7.1.7 In the event of a tie in points among 3 teams, position placing will be determined by goal difference, computed based on the scores of the games played amongst the 3 teams only.

7.1.8  In the event of there being a tie in goal difference, then the team which has scored the greatest number of goals shall be declared the winner. If the tie persists, a replay shall be ordered. In the event of a draw at the end of the replay, the extra time rule shall apply.

7.1.9 The following League points scoring system shall apply
i)  3 points for a win.
ii)  2 points for a draw.
i
ii)  1 point for a loss less than 4 goals.
iv) 0 point for loss 4 goals or more.

7.2 FINALS
The Teams will be given a preliminary position after the last game of the round-robin has been played. The final placing of the team will be determined after the finals.
 

8.  REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS
8.1.1. Each team shall be allowed to register a maximum of 12 players.

8.1.2 If a team has registered an overage player, the overage player will not be allowed to take part in the entire tournament.


9. DURATION OF THE GAME
The game shall be of four equal quarters of ten (10) minutes. The interval time shall be three (3) minutes, five (5) minutes and three (3) minutes between the first and second quarters, second and third quarters and third and fourth quarters respectively.


10. PLAYING ATTIRE
All players must be dressed in similar attire.


11. PLAYING BIBS
All playing bibs must be clearly displayed. Each team is to supply its own bibs. A second set of a different colour may be necessary. If there is a clash in the colour, the first named team shall change the colour of their bibs.


12. UMPIRES
Umpires will be provided for the entire competition.


13. WITHDRAWAL AND WALKOVER
13.1 Any withdrawal or walkover by a team is considered contrary to the spirit of the game.

13.2   In play-off for top 4 placing, any walk-over will disqualify the team from placing.


14. PROTEST
14.1 Any protest during a game on points of laws/ rules must be lodged immediately by the Team Manager.

14.2 All protests and disputes not covered under (12.1) shall be referred to the Tournament Organising Committee. The protest must reach the Committee within two (2) hours following the match to which it relates. The protest must be in writing and duly endorsed by the Team Manager/Coach.


15. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 teams of the competition.


16. SUPPORTERS
Supporters should be seated at the gallery.


17. MATTERS NOT PROVIDED FOR
All matters not provided for in these rules and regulations shall be dealt with by the Tournament Organising Committee whose decision shall be final.


18.  AMENDMENTS
The IYSC shall have the right to delete, add to or amend the rules and regulations laid down herein.
